Author: John Updike

Set in the small, seaside town of Eastwick, Rhode Island, this story involves 3 witches and their involvement in the people of the town as well as a newcomer from New York who purchased an old estate in town.

We spent some time talking about the odd characters in the book, and the wordy way John Updike writes, making this relatively short book somewhat longer to get through. Overall, I think we were in agreement that this book was just okay. Julie and Nicole both watched the movie again, and thought that it was a better movie when seen at a younger age. Several of us could not get the image of Jack Nicholson (who played the neighbor from New York) out of our heads while reading the book. We did not officially give it a number of bees.
