Originally located in the southeast part of Massachusetts Queen Bees Book Club was established in 2004 by Nicole who asked very different types of women, many who didn’t know each other range in age from early 40’s to late 50’s if they would like to start a book club. Each had different professions: homemaker,s business owners, financiers , marketing positions. Meetings were once each month, with holiday breaks, rotating houses with the host person choosing the book the month before. Talk was about the book as well as our lives and challenges.
Each seemed to like different types of books and the taste came through in the choices. Nicole likes Asian influence, Julie usually picks a book about family, Linda likes biographies and history, Donna likes anything quirky or mysterious, Cindy always has some humor, Erin likes a bit of raw romance, Hedi likes the deeper novels with nuance, Jennifer likes anything with plagues and hardships, and Barbara has a varied taste and is always up for any book well written.
And the QBBC continues – and opened geographically in this age of on-line meetings, discussions and sharing. We welcome your suggestions, comments and submissions.
