Author: Keith Richards and Robert Goolrick
The Club read two books this month.
Life is an autobiographical book about Keith Richards’ life. A Reliable Wife is a story of a woman who responds to an ad for a “reliable wife.” Catherine Land answers this ad and moves from St. Louis to a bleak town in Wisconsin. She plots to kill Ralph Truitt, the father of her lover, and discovers his love, trust, and acceptance even in the face of her dishonesty.
Nicole chose this month’s selections, and she really did not like Life. A couple of us finished Life which was slow initially, but really was more interesting as you got into the book. It was a look back at Rock n’ Roll when it was just starting and the story of A Reliable Wife was read by the entire group, and generally well received. Definitely a story about “flawed” characters and very self-destructive behaviors. Overall, I the group gave it 8 Bees.
